We all have them.
Just like a malfunctioning video player, the images of inappropriate thoughts, mistimed words, things we should have done or words we should have expressed repeatedly flood and prick our conscience. And we cannot delete them from our memory banks easily.
We ask “why”, “how come”, “what happened” and desire “if only”, “I wish” and “I should have” etc. We wrestle with anxiety, frustration, anger, sadness, disappointment etc. It is only normal for us to react.
Someone once said “nothing positive or good can come out of regrets.” Perhaps. In his world and at that point of his life.
How can regrets be positive then? They can only be when we are ready and willing to look forward, and see what we can pick up from the experience.
If hindsight truly provides perfect vision, then the past can be opportunities for us to learn more about ourselves and the people around us.
How do you manage your regrets? Let us learn from you.
