It was like being in a musical production or a play and the director tell you he wants a change of script while you are in the middle of it. When you are watching Ice Age the movie and it gets changed to Batman fighting the Joker. Or when you are playing table tennis and find yourself being switched to an opponent in a tennis court.

Some things are just not supposed to happen. Life may be unpredictable but we hope it is at least manageable.

Life decided to be unpredictable and almost unmanageable last week. A close relative passed away suddenly from a massive heart attack leaving behind a young daughter and a wife who has been ill for several years.

It changed the rhythm of their lives and threw the word stability out of their world. What do you do when the fast ball is thrown at you and you cannot avoid it? You get hit. You could get a bruise or you can get broken bones. Most of the time, you don’t pick yourself up easily.

It’s hard when life decides to play a different tune. It renders you powerless and you have to follow, often struggling to adapt. Joy fell into an abyss.

Hope lies buried but it will prayerfully not remain there for long. Support and love from family and friends will help the grieving.

Little by little hope will surface and we will learn to live with grief and make the best of this change in rhythm. It’s tough. Let’s not give up.
